The only music in this house that plays anymore is
the whistling of the kettle on the range.
And just like me it's high and lonesome,
and though they say it ain't supposed to,
I'm always feeling like it's just about to rain.
Someone painted shut all of the windowsills and
someone hung a little Jesus on the wall.
Sometimes I do a little sweeping
like I'm dancing on the weekend.
Me, Myself, and I -- we have a ball.
I'm sending this postcard because I wish you were here,
but I might as well be shouting all of my prayers into space.
Watering flowers with a bucket of tears.
It happens off and on that everything goes wrong and I can hardly tie my shoes or comb my hair.
But when everything is right and I can sleep all through the night then I find that life a bit too ordinaire.
And I guess it isn't news
that I would get the blues-so-bad-that-I'd-be-fixin'-for-to-die.
But i'm just rocking in my chair
not getting anywhere
so come and visit anytime you'd like.
I'm sending this postcard because I wish you were here,
but I might as well be shouting all of my prayers into space.
Watering flowers with a bucket of tears.
